The Rosie Wall RDH Community Spirit Grant, in an
amount ranging from $1,000-$3,000 per recipient, will be presented
to up to six applicants (dependent on funding) who are involved
in a specific community health or research project. One recipient
will be from the state of Hawaii, while the others will be chosen
from the rest of the 50 states.
The ADHA Institute for Oral Health has one deadline for submission of proposals: February 28. All proposals must be postmarked by that date. Individuals who meet the requirements listed under "Eligibility" are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Demonstrate involvement on outstanding activities with a community health program or project, which may include dental, medical and/or mental health enhancement.
- Illustrate that health education is one element of the project.
- Show that these activities enhance the public view of the professional role dental hygenists play in health improvement.
- A United States citzen who is either a licensed dental hygenist or a student pursuing a dental hygenist degree.
- A member of ADHA or SADHA.
- Current ADHA Institute Board of Directors, ADHA Board of Trustees and members of the Research Grant Review Committee may not apply as principal investigators.
Healthy Start for Texas Teeth Community Service Grant
2009-2010 Application
Healthy Start for Texas Teeth Community Service Grants fosters collaborative efforts between individuals or local components of the Texas DHA and their area Head Start Agencies. The grant will provide the preventive benefits of fluoride varnish for children enrolled in Head Start Centers of Texas.
One $1,000 grant will be awarded annually. The length of funding commitment will not exceed one year. The funds will be used toward the purchase of supplies and other expenses to support the program.

Eligibility Requirements:
- A TDHA component, Texas RDH, and/or dental hygiene students (with RDH) are eligible to apply.
- Grant monies are for a fluoride varnish program at one or more Head Start Centers in Texas.
- Minimum number of varnish applications is 2 per person within a 12 month period.
- Minimum number of children to receive varnish is 200.
- Maximum administrative costs for the program must not exceed 25% of total award amount.
- Fluoride varnish program must include an educational component.
- Program must include a collaborative partnership between 3 or more entities (e.g. TDHA, Head Start, and Dental Hygiene School).
- Program must demonstrate an effort to refer children to a dental home.
- Current ADHA Institute Board of Directors, ADHA Board of Trustees and members of the Research Grant Review Committee may not apply as principal investigators.
